milkshakes and pretty things.

after picking up ruby from school one friday we had a bit of fun visiting the old mac alpines on 7th for some good old fashioned milkshakes up at the counter, followed by some fabulous thrift shopping next door. she has apparently taken to the upward gaze into the sky as the new picture pose. who knows why.

we followed up our adventure with a visit to cleo and clementine; a shop on the 7th Ave. curve that is simply lovely. they sew all the dresses there and the owner is a doll with impeccable taste. if only i had a reason to dress fancy. new years party perhaps?

so it was a pretty fun afternoon to treasure.

art museum wednesdays.

every once in a while there is nothing better than
a little jaunt down to the phx art museum on free
wed nights...3pm-9pm.
a perfect post naptime adventure for a long day
with the kids.
oh, and yes, you can go in the dinosaur cage...
considering the lady who works inside told
my kids to definitely go in. after i had told them
on the way in it was strictly forbidden.
hmmm.

happy.

belated 4 year anniversary to us.

last week we spent a lovely morning visiting the farm
i love that place. i always feel like i am getting away
from it all when i go there.
and then it helps that i hold a sweet memory
of my first visit there being with my dad,
who took me for lunch there;
picnic tables and baskets of delicious sandwiches.
some memories just stick with you forever.
i highly recommend the cowboy eggs we had;
chili, fried eggs, toast...yum.
we loved it. the kids loved wandering, and i held back
from helping myself to cutting some chamomile and
other various beautiful flowers in maya's garden.
do go.

ps. that second photo is of snow white of course,
in case you were wondering.
she is full of drama.

mercantile.

my husband happened upon this darling vintage boutique,
also including a hair salon on central over the weekend.
i can not wait to go back and try on some of the
very affordable vintage frocks and perhaps a necklace
and a watch or two.
just makes me happy to know that phoenix is getting
better all the time.
ps. how cozy is that swinging chair? oh, and my camera
did not do it justice, but you simply must go check out the
counter in the place. it is amazing. i will just leave it up
to you to go visit for yourself.

jellyfish park.

at least that is what we refer to it. ruby calls it a jellyfish,
some call it a tornado. so any way you have it,
this has become a great place to hang out after grabbing
a coffee at the market.
perfect grass, little hills, good downtown views,
a stage to dance on, bathrooms nearby and
even a water fountain to play in.
dec made it home in high fashion in his stroller
dressed in a dry diaper and sweatshirt only, sound asleep.
once again, another fun downtown adventure.

a little 'simon says'
{a new fave game of declan's}

soaked to the bone.
{and for all interested in great water features to play in
downtown...city scape has the best one ever...
so take your kids there one afternoon,
and call me so i can meet you.}

royal at the biltmore

we had some time to kill after mass on sunday
so we grabbed a coffee at royal's new spot
at the biltmore.
the owner is an architect with impeccable taste.
someday when i'm making my millions he will
design us a fancy warehouse downtown.

guilty pleasure

donuts after sunday mass are up there in my top faves.
we've only been a handful of times
but please do yourself a favor and skip dunkin
if donuts are your sort of thing
and try out this gem.
you will thank me later.
glazed and coconut are my favorite flaves.

and then you can take some fun family photos
with the lime green back drop right?
{im thinking maybe this is perfect...
we're already dressed up anyhow
so it could kind of work out}
and by the way; thanks mom for those knees.

hungry for a charitable event?

this event sounds like fun.
cupcakes everywhere from all of our local bakeries
and supporting some good causes.
even though its really all about the sweet treats for me.
so plan for 10.10.10
at the valley ho in scottsdale.
lets grab a coffee and head over!

considering...

attending this on sat night as a fun date night.
actually one of our friends
is modeling in it so that should be hilarious.
i've always wanted to venture done Grand for a night
and via this show found this fun website
for all you arty phoenicians out there
and
im super intrigued about this part of the show.
trash-fashion.
i shall be indulging my inner project runway obsession
as well as wondering why they did not call me for my design.
i do love my trash...
if only there was another place to store it all.

hissyfits

looking for a good place to find some sweet goods
for the stylin kids in your life?
or for that matter mothers?
this place rocks.
its consignment, so you hand over your old goods
in exchange for something else.
not all used either.
some new and some hand crafted.
beyond clothes, there are great shoes,
accessories,
maternity,
furniture, and you name it.
best idea ever.
and, i have heard they have a sweet craft fair.
its always a good time shopping
when you dont have to spend any money...technically.
it used to be buffalo exchange for me...back in the day.
now that im a mom, this hits the spot.
hope your have a lovely week!
