three yr.old mikey.

june 18th our sweet little monster muh mike turned three. he is mighty delicious these days. no big fiesta, just a simple affair...the usual morning donuts, balloons, and some presents. making and decorating chocolate cupcakes for mr. sweet tooth was a giant tasting bonanza. simply loving his hilarious faces these days. mikey we love you too much!! yippee for three; by far my favorite birthday so far as ages go.

So the big two arrived for little Mikey this past month. We had a nice early celebration with his cousin Dot at GiGi's and they both were the cutest on their little scooters. always a good time swimming and running around with cousins. 
His real birthday was rather simple....donuts for breakfast and lots of animals (his new favorite thing). animals, guys, any figurine goes with him all over the house. even to bed. best part? stepping on them in the carpet.

never a dull moment.

this guy keeps us on our toes around here. can you believe he is already one? i can not. above is one of those moments i had to laugh out loud pretty loudly when mikey fell into a pot in the pantry, and yes he was dressed up in a tutu while eating a bit of ice cream. pretty awesome. cant get enough of him.

downtown date with mike.

mikey and i recently had a nice little coffee date downtown. its funny how i live down here but rarely get a chance to walk around and enjoy it. we checked out the new cartel and some of my favorite buildings. he was a pretty great date let me tell you. can you believe he is almost one? i sure can not. fastest year ever.

kale and a new camera app.

recently threw this salad together because i simply love the flavor of kale in a salad and this was just stuff in my fridge. as much as i would love to say i am a pretty good menu planner, i sometimes get carried away with the day/kids/nice weather/crafts/playing/the park or who knows and before you know it its dinner time and i am scrambling. so i cooked up some chicken and threw it over noodles with parmesan, lemon and olive oil, along side this crunchy salad:

raw kale

chopped brussels

sliced red onion

sliced red bell pepper

slivered almonds

grape tomatoes

purple grapes

and poppy seed dressing

best part? leftover never get soggy, so good for a couple days. 

and on a side note; i found this camera app i love, that is a huge time waster in making pics look fancy and pretty. its called vsco cam. used on both of these photos. i think its great at making food look nice in photos; a daunting task sometimes.
